John Obaro, group managing director (GMD) of SystemSpecs, says the company remains dedicated to developing technology solutions for businesses and governments.
Obaro spoke while receiving his ‘Titan of the Year’ award at the 2025 ThisDay Awards ceremony on Monday.
The awards ceremony, held at the Eko Hotels and Suites on Victoria Island, Lagos, attracted ministers, political party leaders and entrepreneurs.
“This recognition is not just about me; it reflects the collective effort of the incredible SystemSpecs team,” Obaro said.
“We remain dedicated to developing solutions that empower businesses, individuals, and governments, proving that technology is a force for good.”
For over three decades, Obaro has reshaped indigenous software development, demonstrating that African innovation can effectively address the continent’s challenges.
He revolutionised financial technology with Remita, which powers the treasury single account (TSA) and facilitates seamless payments across multiple sectors.
The GMD also transformed workforce management with HumanManager, a solution that streamlines human resource processes for organisations across Nigeria.
Obaro holds multiple honorary doctorates, a lifetime achievement award in technology, and a fellowship from the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).
Other ‘Titans of the Year’ awardees include Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, non-executive chairman of Access Holdings, and Emeka Anyaoku, former secretary-general of the Commonwealth.
Jim Ovia, founder and chairman of Zenith Bank, and Segun Agbaje, chief executive officer (CEO) of Guaranty Trust Holding Company, are also part of the list.
At the award ceremony, Access Bank was named the ‘Global Bank of the Year’ for 2024.
