Take coronavirus sensitization to grassroots, NSCDC boss tasks CSOs

Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kaduna State Command, Babangida Abdullahi Dutsinma, has urged the State COVID-19 Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Emergency Intervention Group to take the sensitization on coronavirus to the grassroots to check the spread of the pandemic.
He stated this when he received the members of the team at the Command Tuesday.
Dutsinma called on the CSOs to sensitize residents on the need of obeying lockdown by the federal and state governments, noting that it has helped in the relative low incidence of COVID-19 in Kaduna State.
State Commandant of Corps, appreciated the CSOs for their sacrifices in the discharge of voluntary services in the state and the nation for the sake of humanity.
The Commandant promised to complement their efforts by providing security cover for members anytime such need arises.
Speaking at the sensitization programme, Pharmacist Aisha Isyaku, called on all personnel to adhere strictly to pieces professional advice and government directives on mitigating the rising incidence of the pandemic.
Isyaku implored officers and men to ensure regular hand washing, maintain social distancing and use of face mask in reducing spread of it.
She urged operatives of the command to be cautious while on field, offices and houses calling on them to report suspected cases for prompt attention.
Earlier in an address, State Coordinator of the team, Adamu Idrisu Chado, tasked personnel of the command to consider the pandemic as a serious health disaster that requires the attention of all and sundry.
He warned that it is better to prevent COVID -19 than manage it, stressing non-existence of its cure.
Responding, State Commandant of Corps, Babangida Abdullahi Dutsinma, appreciated the CSOs for their sacrifices in the discharge of voluntary services in the state and the nation for the sake of humanity.
The interaction also witnessed symbolic encouragement on use of face mask by officers and men of the command and the use of hand sanitizers.
