The National Chairman of Ulama Council of Jama’tu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Ikamatis Sunnah, Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, has said that withdrawal of Speaker House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal’s security details was political and uncalled for.

Recall that last week, the security aides attached to Tambuwal were withdrawn shortly after his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).

Jingir, who stated this yesterday in Jos, during the official commissioning of an office of the vigilante group at Ali Kazaure, said, “If the security system of Nigeria continues to act on the basis of religious, political, sectional interest, or gender discrimination, then the system has fallen.”

“If there is any section of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria which stipulates the withdrawal of security aides to any person simply because he has different interest to that of others in authority, I demand that it should be amended, because it is a great mistake.”

“All Nigerian masses have the fundamental human rights to be properly protected by security agencies, as enshrined in the country’s Constitution.

“In my opinion, the Nigerian soldiers, the Police, Immigration, Civil Defence and all other security agencies, have the responsibility of ensuring safety to lives and property of the citizens,” Jingir said.

He added: “And therefore, any person that is ready to join and serve as a security personnel must do away with sentiment; and also he must shun all manner of discrimination”.

He, however explained that peace and security are cardinal points of every developed society, stressing that in any place where there is insecurity, the soldiers, Police and other security personnel are usually the first victims of violence that are either killed or injured and that the vigilante should be supported.
