The son of the Emir of Muri, Alhaji Abbas Njiddah Tafida, has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for Yoro/Jalingo/Zing federal constituency for the forthcoming by election in the state.
Tafida, who emerged as a consensus candidate, was on Tuesday declared winner of the party’s primary which took place at the Jolly Nyame Stadiu, in Jalingo, the state capital.
He emerged winner after six other candidates withdrew from the contest few minutes before the commencement of the election.
Notable among those who stepped down were the former Permanent Secretary of the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Bello Yero, Chairman of the Taraba State Parliamentary Committee
Saleh Sa’ad, former Commissioner of Youth and Sport, Hassan Bappa, Abdullahi Baba, and Leah Solomon.
The Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Alhaji Mohammed Danlami, declared that out of 96 accredited delegates, 95 cast their votes in favor of Tafida.
