The Taraba Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, on Monday sworn-in the newly elected chairmen declared by the Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission (TSIEC) with a charge on them to deploy they energy and talents in moving the State forward in line with his administration’s blueprint.
Recall that the 16 chairmen of the People’s Democratic party (PDP) were elected last Saturday.
Speaking during the swear-in ceremony in Jalingo, Agbu urged them to embrace technology to enhance good governance that would leverage digital solutions for improve service delivery.
Agbu said the elected chairmen were carefully selected by the People’s Democratic party (PDP) and elected by the people and that he does not doubt their competence to collaborate with the State to bring good governance to the people.
“Your role are pivotal in the implementation of the five (5) fingers agenda set for by my administration, and I want to emphasize on the important and your commitment to this course, the people of Taraba State has voted you in, you were nominated by your stakeholders in your various local government and the people voted you in, and they expect you to give them the best.
“As custodian of the public trust, you are mandated to live by integrity and diligent, your two years tenure is limited, yet there are valuable windows opportunities to make a lasting impact on the lives of the people you are going to serve.
“It is imperative that you will work tirelessly to bring about positive change and development to our local Communities.” He said.
“In addition to our outline agenda, I encourage you to embrace technology to enhance good governance, you are to leverage digital solutions for improve service delivery, data management and communication with the public, this will not only streamline processes but will also make information more accessible to everyone.
“You are to collaborate with neighboring local governments, fostering unity and knowledge sharing, together you can address regional challenges and maximizing developmental opportunities, promoting a sense of share responsibility and collective progress.” He said.
Responding on behalf of his colleagues, the chairman of Jalingo local government, Alh. Aminu Jauro Hassan, promised to collaborate with the Agbu administration, adding that with them in the councils, the Governor will succeed in his set goals.
