Taraba gov. urges ICPC, EFCC to intensify fight against corruption

Taraba State Acting Governor, Alhaji Garba Umar has called on the Independent Corruption Practice Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to develop policies and initiative aimed at eradicating corruption in the country.

The Acting Governor made the call yesterday while declaring open a one day National interactive summit on anti-corruption ethics and values organized by the office of the special adviser to the president on ethics and values in partnership with the global network, monitoring and development initiative which took place at the Jaly Nyame stadium in Jalingo.

Umar said all hands must be on deck to fight corruption to its logical conclusion.

According to him, the summit was timely and will go a long way in upholding the societal values and ethics which he said were eroding.

Represented by the secretary to the state government, Gavrvey Yaweh, the Acting Governor said for corruption to be reduced in Nigeria, factors that are inducing it must be removed otherwise all effort would be vain.

On her part, the special adviser to the president on ethics and values, Sarah Jibril who was represented by Mohammed Haruna said the summit would go a long way in fighting corruption in the country.

Jibril added that the summit was also an effort towards sensitizing the people towards a change of attitude for a better Nigeria.

In his remark the executive director of Global Network Monitoring and development initiative, Mohammed Haruna who was represented by Eunice
