
Taraba Governor commissions N3.7bn road network in Sokoto

Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, on Monday commissioned a 5km road in Sokoto executed by Sokoto State Government at the cost of N3.7 billion.
Our Correspondent in Sokoto reports that the Taraba Governor was in Sokoto on the invitation of Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, to commission some projects executed by the state.
Kefas described his visit to Sokoto as a homecoming, as the two states “are connected by some common identites”.
Dr Kefas also acknowledged th efforts of his Sokoto State counterpart in the delivery of dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
The Taraba State Governor described investments in road infrastructure as investments for the future .
In his remarks, Governor Aliyu said that the road network in Buzaye area comprises Argungu Road, Gobir Road, Lanzu Road, and other connecting roads, with a combined length of approximately two kilometres.
He added, ” First and foremost, let me extend my profound appreciation to my colleague and friend, His Excellency the Taraba state Governor, Agbu kefas, for honouring our invitation to come to Sokoto to perform the commissioning of the Buzaye roads network.
“Sir your presence here, clearly demonstrates the kind of love you have for Sokoto people.
“Road infrastructure remains one of the most critical foundations for sustainable socio-economic development.
“Well-constructed roads facilitate the efficient movement of people and goods, improve access to residential communities, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, markets, and business centres, while also strengthening security, promoting environmental improvement, and stimulating economic growth.”
Gov. Ahmed said that the new roads would significantly ease transportation challenges, improve connectivity within the community, increase commercial activities, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents and visitors.
He added, “This project forms an integral part of our broader Urban Renewal Programme, through which our administration continues to transform the physical landscape of the Sokoto metropolis.
“Under this initiative, numerous strategic infrastructure projects have been executed to modernize our cities, improve public amenities, and create an environment that is functional, resilient, attractive, and capable of supporting sustainable economic development.
“The commissioning of the Buzaye Road Network further expands the growing portfolio of impactful projects successfully delivered by this administration.
“To us, infrastructure development extends beyond the construction of roads and buildings; it is an investment in human development, economic opportunity, and the long-term prosperity of our people.
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to ensuring that every part of Sokoto State benefits from inclusive, equitable, and sustainable development.”
Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto also commended the Ministry of Lands and Housing, the contractors, consultants, engineers, and every stakeholder whose professionalism, dedication, and commitment contributed to the successful execution of this project.
He said, ” Their collective efforts have made today’s commissioning possible.8. I also extend my sincere appreciation to the good people of the Buzaye Area for their patience, understanding, cooperation, and support throughout the construction period.
“Development is most successful when government and communities work together in partnership to achieve shared goals.
“As we commission this road network today, I urge residents, motorists, and all users to take collective ownership of this valuable public asset by ensuring its proper use, safeguarding it against misuse, and supporting its maintenance.
“Public infrastructure belongs to all of us, and its preservation is a shared responsibility owed to both present and future generations.
“Let me reassure the people of Sokoto State that our administration will continue to prioritize projects that improve living standards, expand economic opportunities, and promote sustainable urban and rural development.
“We remain resolute in delivering people-centred policies and transformative projects that reflect our vision of a modern, prosperous, secure, and inclusive Sokoto State.
“Before I end my address, let me thank our dear president Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, for various infrastructural transformation taking place across the nation, aimed at putting the country on the right direction.”
The Chairman of Sokoto South Local Government Area, Alhaji Yau Muhammad Danda, extolled the myriad of developmental strides of Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto.
According to the Chairman, the people of the state and particularly Sokoto South Local Government Area have never had it so good than during the administration of Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto and his mentor, APC leader in the state, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
