The Taraba State Government has condemned inflammatory statements made by Rev. Bazel Yoila, who threatened violence and public disorder over the United Methodist Church in Nigeria (UMCN) reconciliation process.
The government through the state Commissioner for information and Re-orientation, Barr. Zainab Usman Jalingo, Wednesday clarified that the Department of State Services (DSS) arrested Yoila for statements capable of inciting violence, saying “the state will be on fire” if the process continued.
Barr. Zainab stressed that the reconciliation effort was neutral and aimed at preventing communal unrest, and warned against attempts to derail it through threats or inflammatory rhetoric.
It also noted that the matter is before a court and urged parties to allow the judicial process to proceed without interference.
