Taraba State Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas has assured corps members deployed to the state that Taraba remains peaceful, accommodating, and welcoming, describing it as Home away from Home and Nature’s Gift to the Nation.
Kefas made the known on Monday during the swearing in ceremony for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Orientation Course held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Sibre, Ardo-Kola LGA.
Represented by the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hamman Ahmed Adama, Kefas said his administration has places high premium on Youth Development, and consider Youth Corps Members and the NYSC Scheme as one of the crucial
development partners, endowed with energy, training, talent and skills needed
to galvanize the state.
He congratulated them on completing their academic pursuit, noting that the National Youth Service Corps remains one of the most enduring instruments for promoting national unity, integration, and patriotic service.
“Today as you take the oath of allegiance, you are not merely fulfilling a statutory requirement, you are accepting a sacred responsibility to serve the nation with integrity, discipline, commitment, and selflessness.
“On our part, I wish to reassure you that my administration will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the security and welfare of corps members in the State will remain our utmost priority during and after the Orientation Course,” he said.
Speaking earlier, Taraba State Coordinator of NYSC, Ella Aji Williams, charged them to exhibit dedication and responsibility throughout their national service.
Williams said the Orientation Course was designed to instill leadership qualities and prepare corps members for nation-building.
“The Orientation Camp is a regimented environment, and our watchword is discipline. We have zero tolerance for indiscipline and anti-social behavior. Corps Members found culpable in such acts shall be dealt with appropriately,” he warned.
He further commended Governor Agbu Kefas for his unwavering support to the scheme and encouraged corps members to embrace Taraba’s cultural diversity while contributing their skills to host communities.
