Taraba: New NBA chair, unveils 12 points agenda

The newly inaugurated Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Jalingo Branch, Dr. Daniel Philemon Saredau, on Friday unveiled a 12-point agenda, aimed at building a thriving, digitally and inclusive Bar in the state.

Dr. Saredau, who disclosed during the swearing-in ceremony in Jalingo that the desire to achieve the 12 points agenda was to see a transformative bar practices among members and ensure sustainable welfare.

According to him, the mandate to serve was a devine trust from members that would not be compromise but ensure that the Bar work to benefit all.

“Our desire is to transform the bar practice in Taraba. The reform is to ensure a (Bar That Works For All)”. Dr. Saredau pledged.

The new NBA chairman appealed for member’s support to enable him deliver on the mandate.

“It is time to deliver on the mandate entrust on us; We have made commitment and it’s time for service.

“Our administration’s commitments cut across 12 impact areas, designed to ensure a thriving, digitally-enabled, and inclusive Jalingo Bar: Digitalization (Branch website, digital member portal, and strong branch online presence).

“The Members Welfare and Remuneration, Socials, Sports, and Recreation, Inclusivity and Young Lawyers’ Continuing Legal Education, Human Rights, Public Interest Advocacy, and Law Reform. To ensure Transparency and Accountability, Enhancement of the Bar Centre.

“We have target to establish the Bar Guest House, ensure Cordial Bar-Bench Relations, Cordial Bar-Security Agencies Relations and Ethical, Sustainable and Technology-Oriented Legal Practice.

“We will be committed to a pragmatic, visible, responsive, visionary, and accountable”. Dr Saredau assured.

Meanwhile, chief Barr. GT kataps, Secretary to the government of the state (SGS), Taraba, urged the new exco to ensure a sustained unity among members in order not to ridicule the association’s reputation.

Earlier, Barr. Martins Milkman, the immediate past chairman of the association, commended members contribution during his tenure, and urged same to exhibited to enable the new exco succeed.
