Taraba NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel to Honour Late Veteran Journalist Ben Adaji

The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Taraba State Council, has announced a Night of Tribute for its late elder and colleague, Chief Ben Adaji, on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

The decision was reached Monday at an emergency congress of the chapel in Jalingo.

The meeting, which commenced at 9:40 a.m, was well attended and opened with a one-minute silence in honour of the deceased.

Chapel Chairman, Comr. Gabriel Yough told members that the urgent meeting was convened to ensure full participation of the chapel in the final burial rites of Chief Adaji, and proposed a Night of Tribute in honour of the late journalist, a motion unanimously endorsed by congress.

After deliberations, members adopted five resolutions to guide the programme.

“Financial Contribution: Each member shall contribute N30,000 to cover the expenses for the Night of Tribute and logistics support for the final burial in Kogi State.

“Deduction Protocol: It was agreed that this amount may be deducted from the monthly stipend if the disbursement occurs prior to the event date.

“Date: Saturday, June 20, 2026, was approved for the Night of Tribute.

“Venue: The NUJ Press Centre was selected as the venue for the event.

“Planning Participation: Members of the chapel committed to full participation in the planning and execution of the program.
