Speaker of the Taraba state House of Assembly, Josiah Sabo Kente, says women participation in politics would assist in the promotion of democracy and the socio political development of the country.

Kente stated this yesterday when he received a Non Governmental Organization (NGO), Women Political Empowerment, led by Mary Paninga who was on advocacy visit to the office of the Speaker.

According to her, poor upbringing of children by mothers have contributed to the security challenges being faced in the country particularly among the youth just as she called on mothers to put in more efforts in shaping the lives of their wards.

The Speaker assured the women of his support adding that a joint bill would be sponsored to assist various women organizations in the state. He also commended the women for their campaign.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation told the Speaker that they were in his office for an advocacy visit and also to inform him of the objectives of the organization.

She said the NGO was inaugurated by the President in all the six geo political zones in the country in 2006 but the north east zone became effective in 2013 due to political crisis and security challenges in the region.
