Teacher Tasks Parents on Children’s Upbringing, Not Just Paying School Fees

The Head Teacher of Federal University Dutsin-Ma Staff School (FUDMASS), Mr Jimoh Garba has urged parents to take more interest in the upbringing of their children, saying their responsibilities goes beyond paying school fees.

The Head Teacher gave the advice during the school’s General Meeting and election of new leadership of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA).

He said parents shouldn’t just bring their children to school but must also follow up on their progress, character development and personal hygiene.

Mr Garba emphasized that parental roles should not be limited to meeting financial obligations but should extend to making general enquiries on issues affecting their children.

He commended the parents for their adherence to the school’s rules and regulations, but advised those who send their children late to adjust their routines and those giving money to their children to stop.

The Head Teacher raised serious concerns about personal hygiene and proper dressing among pupils.

He encouraged parents to pay more attention to providing their children with recommended learning materials.

Mr Jimoh announced that the 2026 graduation ceremony has been fixed for Wednesday, 12th August, 2026,.

Meanwhile,  Hussaini Shafi’i emerged as the new Chairman of the school’s PTA, with Dr. Segun Adeola as the Vice Chairman, Dr. Yunusa Abdullateef, Financial Secretary, Dr. Mustafa Haruna as Auditor, Sadiyya Bature, Public Relations Officer, and Aliyu Abdulkadri Kaita as Secretary General.

In his inaugural speech, Shafi’i pledged to build on the successes of his predecessors and run a responsive, innovative regime that would address the challenges facing the school and the association, and derive development not just in the school but also in FUDMA at large.
