The Chairman of the TEKAN/ECWA Youth Fellowship in Nasarawa State, Mr. Vanduna David Kadzai, has urged Christian youths across Nigeria to register for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that active participation in the electoral process is essential for electing credible leaders.

Kadzai made the call during the monthly meeting of the TEKAN/ECWA Youth Fellowship, which brought together youths from the 16 churches that make up the TEKAN/ECWA Youth Wing Bloc. The meeting was held at the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), Buka Sidi, Lafia.

Addressing the gathering, he described young people as the “light of society” and encouraged them to play a constructive role in nation-building through peaceful participation in the democratic process.

According to him, Christian youths should unite, register for their PVCs, and ensure they participate in the 2027 elections by voting for candidates they consider credible.

“Youths are the light of the world. Shine your light as children of God by speaking with one voice for the unity of Christianity, Nigeria, and the world. This is a political season, and young people must think positively by registering for their Permanent Voter Cards to become eligible to vote. They should also protect their votes and work together towards a better future,” he said.

Kadzai further urged Christian youths to promote peace, unity, and religious harmony, noting that collective prayers and unity of purpose would contribute to the development of Nasarawa State and Nigeria.

“As Christian youths, let us embrace peace and unity in line with the teachings of the Bible. We should put aside our differences, remain united as one family in Christ, and continue praying for our state and the nation to grow in the fear of God,” he added.

In a goodwill message, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant for the Lafia Central State Constituency seat in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. James Alu, also encouraged youths to take advantage of the ongoing PVC registration exercise.

He described the voter card as a critical requirement for participation in the 2027 elections and urged eligible youths to complete their registration without delay.

Alu further appealed to Christian youths to remain united, law-abiding, and resist attempts by politicians to recruit them for political violence or other unlawful activities.

“I urge young people not to allow themselves to be used as political thugs by desperate politicians pursuing selfish interests. Register for your PVC, vote wisely for credible candidates, and contribute positively to the democratic process,” he said.

He also called on the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to continue supporting youth organisations by promoting unity, moral values, and the fear of God among young people.

The speakers maintained that increased voter registration and peaceful civic engagement among youths would strengthen Nigeria’s democracy and encourage greater participation in the country’s electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
