Tension,suspicion and fear of manipulation is enveloping Mbula communities over the selection of a new paramount ruler of the chiefdom in Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa state.
It would be recalled that death of the immediate Murum Mbula,Joel Joram-Fwa on the 16th May, 2021, at the age of 82 after a protracted illness sparked the leadership tussle for a new King between the Fwa and Muzong competing ruling clans.
At a conference by the Youth Wing of Mbula Development Association in Yola on Monday, it alleged that some influential personalities of the area are conspiring to subvert the traditional method of succession, warning that such interference can bring crisis.
Spokesman of the group,Emmanuel Nathaniel said despite the unhealthy and deliberate efforts by some individuals to destabilise the traditional way of succession,the youth group will ensure principle of rotation of the succession of the monarch is adhered to no matter what it takes.
