There is no any better time for the Boko Haram insurgents to embrace dialogue in order to pave way for peace but now, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal made this assertion in Kaduna,at the weekend, while declaring open the National Conference on:”Practical Steps in Uniting the Nigerian Muslim Ummah” and the JNI Annual Pre-Ramadan meeting, held at the JNI National Headquarters.
According to Tambuwal, The Boko Haram insurgents can only gain sympathy if they embrace dialogue and stop the killing, kidnapping and wanton destruction of lives and property.
The Speaker also appealed on the federal government to also follow the path of meaningful dialogue that would end the insurgences and advised it not to shut its doors against dialogue with the terrorists group, assuring that, the House of Representative was ready to support any effort aimed at bringing about peace in the country and put a permanent end to killings across the country.
The Speaker, therefore, called on Nigerians to unite, irrespective of their religious differences, for the survival of the country, adding that there must be a peaceful country called Nigeria before any of one can practice their religion and for the government to implement meaningful projects that will impact on the lives of her people positively.
“Nigerians need to stand and work together for the survival of the country” he added.
On the forthcoming Ramadan fast, Tambuwal called on Islamic preachers to always moderate their utterances particularly during their Ramadan Tafsir and avoid inciting statements.
