Three Kaduna State PDP members of the House of Representatives, yesterday, defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defectors are Rep. Abdulkarim Ahmed (Kaduna South Federal Constituency), Rep. Aliyu Abdullahi (Ikara/Kubau Federal Constituency) and Rep. Sadiq Abdullahi (Sabon Gari Federal Constituency).
Reading their defection letters, the Speaker, Rep. Abbas Tajudeen, stated during plenary that their defection was due to an internal crisis within the PDP.
“They also highlighted the need to align forces with President Bola Tinubu to deliver the dividends of democracy to their respective constituents.
“The defectors pledged their full commitment to supporting President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
“They also pledged to promote unity and sustainable development in Kaduna State under the leadership of Gov. Uba Sani,” Mr Abbas said.
The highlight of the defection was the presence of the Kaduna State governor at the plenary. He emphasized the importance of supporting the President to advance the nation. “Imagine local governments, now empowered by financial autonomy, addressing community needs directly without interference. Additionally, consider the transformative impact of the 2023 Electricity Bill, which liberalizes the power sector and paves the way for decentralized electricity generation, transmission, and distribution across the country.”
“These are not distant aspirations but tangible achievements and ongoing projects under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. The significant progress made in just over a year in office demonstrates that Nigeria is on a clear path toward sustainable development, economic growth, and an enhanced quality of life for all its citizens,” he added.
“Our country is indeed facing significant challenges. The rising cost of living has put many Nigerians in difficult situations. These are pressing issues that need our collective focus and action.
