President Bola Tinubu has appointed retired Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Idris Adamu as the new Chairman of the Military Pensions Board.
The move is aimed at strengthening the management of pensions for retired military personnel and ensuring they receive their benefits on time.
AVM Adamu has a long history of service in the Nigerian Air Force, holding important positions in finance and leadership.
His past roles include directing staff at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, serving as Deputy Director of Budget at the Defence Intelligence Agency, and acting as Principal Staff Officer for Finance at the Air Warfare Centre.
He also led the 081 Pay and Accounting Group, managed finance at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters, and headed the Nigerian Air Force Investment Limited, overseeing operations of the NAFIL Group of Companies.
More recently, he served as directing staff at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru.
The president tasked Adamu with using his financial expertise and leadership experience to enhance the welfare of military retirees and ensure that the board operates with transparency and integrity.
