Tinubu appoints first female director-general of Nigerian law school

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Dr. Olugbemisola Titilayo Odusote as the new Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, making her the first woman to lead the institution since its establishment in 1962.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

The appointment takes effect from January 10, 2026, for a renewable four-year term.

Dr. Odusote, 54, is currently the Deputy Director-General and Head of the Lagos Campus. She will succeed Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma, whose tenure ends on January 9, 2026, after eight years in office. Odusote brings over two decades of experience in legal education, having served in various leadership roles at the Nigerian Law School.

A graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University with LL.B. and LL.M. degrees, she also holds a PhD in Law from the University of Surrey, UK. Known for her contributions to legal scholarship, Dr. Odusote has published widely and participated in both national and international legal education forums.

As DG, she will provide academic and administrative leadership across all campuses of the Nigerian Law School.
