Nuhu Abdullahi, a popular Kannywood actor and President Bola Tinubu campaigner, has donated 108 single-seater desks to Kawon Maigari Primary School in Nassarawa local government area of Kano State.

The donation was made to the 49-year-old school through the Nuhu Abdullahi Development Foundation.

In addition, the foundation has renovated and furnished four classrooms in the school, which was where the Tinubu campaigner started his primary school education.

He stated that the foundation was established on the belief that every child in Northern Nigeria deserves access to a conducive learning environment, including functional classrooms, adequate furniture, safe sanitation facilities, and motivated teachers.

Nuhu Abdullahi commended Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for declaring a State of Emergency in Education and for ongoing reforms aimed at revitalizing the sector through school renovations, provision of instructional materials, and modernization of educational institutions.

He also praised the recent recruitment of teachers under the Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) programme, describing it as a major boost to quality teaching and learning in the state.

At the federal level, the Foundation acknowledged the efforts of President Tinubu, particularly the establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which is expanding access to higher education by removing financial barriers on Nigerian students.

The foundation noted that its intervention aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation).

In his remarks, the Kano state’s Commissioner of Education, Ali Haruna Makoda, praised the foundation for the wisdom to execute the projects at the 49-year-old school.

Makoda, represented by Director Schools in the ministry, Sagiru Umar Danbare noted that the state government needs those kind of projects by individuals and organizations to support its overwhelming education development drive.

According to him, “government can not do all. We need other hands like this to support us. We really commend the founder of this foundation for this initiative which will go along with the state’s government’s state-of-emergency in education.

” I call on the school authority to ensure maintenance of this project because lack of maintenance of school’s infrastructure is what draws government’s commitment in education back,” he warned.

In his remarks also, Dr Nuhu Abdullahi, PTA Chairman of the school, lauded the foundation for coming to the rescue of the school.

According to the PTA Chairman, the school was renovated by UNICEF but the international organization did not provide seats and other necessary infrastructure at the school.

He explained that the renovated classes remained without desks until the Nuhu Abdullahi Foundation identified the school and provided it with such gesture.

He thanked the founder and urged the the school to ensure the desks are not broken and the toilets not spoiled by the pupils.
