President Bola Tinubu has declared a state of emergency on food security in the country.

Presidency spokesman, Dele Alake, has just announced this measure at a press conference which just ended at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to Alake the president’s action is predicated upon “noticeable rising food cost” across the country as a result of some recent government policies aimed at revamping the economy.

He said, among other measures, government would deploy some funds accruing from petrol subsidy removal immediately to the agricultural sector to check the food security challenge.
