President Bola Ahmed Tinubu congratulates  HRH (Dr) Al-Hassan Saleh Yakmut, a distinguished sports administrator, Chairman of Plateau United Football Club and District Head of Chanso in Mangu LGA of Plateau State, on his 65th birthday on May 5, 2026.

President Tinubu acknowledges the remarkable journey of the former Director General of the National Sports Commission—from his early days as a professional volleyball player to his roles as a Senior Sports Officer in the Ministry of Sports and as a strategic adviser to successive Ministers of Sports.

“Your contributions as a football administrator, trusted adviser to top sports executives, and a champion of grassroots development have left an indelible mark on sports as a unifying force in the nation.

“Through your guidance, opportunities have been created, talents have been nurtured, and the future of football has been strengthened. Your passion and commitment continue to inspire both on and off the field.

“As you celebrate this milestone, I wish you good health, continued success, and many more years of impactful service and fulfilment,” the President says.

Likewise, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has joined family, friends, and well-wishers in celebrating former Director General of the National Sports Commission, Alhassan Saleh Yakmut, on the momentous occasion of his 65th birthday.

In a heartfelt congratulatory message, Governor Mutfwang described the milestone as a testament to a life of meaningful impact, dedicated service, and admirable achievements.

He commended Mr. Yakmut for his invaluable contributions to good governance and sports development in Nigeria, noting his exemplary leadership marked by unwavering dedication, professionalism, and excellence.

The Governor further highlighted Mr. Yakmut’s over three decades of distinguished experience in administration, management, and corporate policy strategy. He praised his humility, integrity, and consistent commitment to serving both Plateau State and the nation.

Governor Mutfwang also acknowledged Mr. Yakmut’s early beginnings as a professional volleyball player in Plateau State, noting how his passion for sports evolved into a remarkable career in sports administration. He commended his collaboration with various Ministers of Sports, through which he significantly influenced and advanced the development of sports in Nigeria.

The Governor recognized Mr. Yakmut’s broader contributions to national development, including his service as Director/Secretary to the Boards of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS), and Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) under the Ministry of Interior.

On behalf of his family, the government, and the peace-loving people of Plateau State, Governor Mutfwang encouraged Mr. Yakmut to continue his legacy of kindness, generosity, and service to humanity, especially to the less privileged. He prayed for God’s continued blessings of good health, wisdom, and strength for greater service to the nation and mentorship of future generations
