President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday received former President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, in what observers describe as part of ongoing consultations on regional and continental affairs.
The meeting, held around 4 p.m. at Aso Rock Presidential Villa, was confirmed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who shared photographs of the engagement.
While the agenda of the talks was not disclosed, the visit reflects a pattern of periodic engagements between the two leaders, particularly on West African political developments and Nigeria’s diplomatic role on the continent.
Jonathan’s latest visit follows a similar engagement in November 2025 after his evacuation from Guinea-Bissau, where he led an election observation mission under the West African Elders Forum.
He has since remained active in regional mediation efforts, often describing himself as a “roving ambassador.”
The meeting highlights continued consultations between both leaders on governance, regional stability and diplomatic affairs.
