President Bola Tinubu has affirmed that Nigeria is emerging as a high-value investment destination despite prevailing economic challenges.
The President stated this on Thursday at the State House, Abuja, while receiving a delegation from the Civil Society Organisation on Community Advancement and Humanitarian Empowerment Initiative (CSCHEI).
According to a statement issued by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu said the nation’s economy was rebounding and attracting significant investments, particularly in the hydrocarbons sector.
“I have just received the good news that our gas investment has crossed the most difficult river and is moving very effectively,” the President said.
He referenced the successful completion of the River Niger crossing of the OB3 Gas Pipeline by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), noting that the project would enhance gas transportation capacity, strengthen energy security, and support industrial growth.
Tinubu further stated that his administration had stabilised the economy and was beginning to record positive outcomes.
“We have survived the edge of bankruptcy; we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.
The President also highlighted the Sokoto-Badagry highway project as a major infrastructure initiative with significant economic benefits, noting that over 75 dams along the corridor could support irrigation, power generation, and improved livelihoods.
On security, Tinubu said efforts were ongoing to address challenges across the country, adding that discussions on state policing were making progress.
“It is not something you can fix overnight. We shall overcome,” he said.
He commended CSCHEI for fostering intellectual engagement and encouraging civic participation in governance.
Earlier, the Director-General of CSCHEI, Kunle Yusuff, described the organisation as a United Nations-accredited platform coordinating community and civil society groups.
Yusuff praised the administration’s reforms and pledged the organisation’s support in promoting public awareness of government programmes.
He added that Nigeria was making progress in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while also commending policies on local government autonomy and social investment, and calling for broader inclusion.
