Togo disqualified from WAFU-B U-17 Tournament

Host nation, Togo has been disqualified from the 2021 West Africa Football Union, U-17 tournament ongoing in Lome.
Togo was disqualified for using ineligible players in the tournament.
Confederation of Africa Football, CAF announced the disqualification on Saturday.
CAF noted in its release that “As part of the U-17 WAFU-B tournament, held in Lomé, Togo and counting as qualifiers for the Total U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2021, CAF Organizing Committee for Youth Competitions decided at its meeting on 9 January 2021 to disqualify the U-17 team of Togo. The Cadet Hawks have fielded two players deemed ineligible based on MRI test results.
“This decision is made in accordance with article 27.4 of the regulations of the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations which stipulates that “if after having carried out the age eligibility test (MRI) for a participating team and a player ‘is revealed ineligible, the participating team will be disqualified.”
With the disqualification, the results of Togo matches are in the ongoing tournament are also cancelled.
Togo, host country of the qualifying tournament, had two victories from two games, 2-1 against Niger and 3-1 against Benin.
