FCT Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB)

The Federal Capital Territory Universal Basic Education Board (FCT UBEB) has inaugurated Integrity Clubs in 10 selected public Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) in the Territory, with the aim of fostering the values of integrity, transparency, and accountability among young students.

Also, it is targeted at shaping the moral character of students; ensuring they grow into responsible citizens with zero tolerance for corruption.

It was gathered that the FCT UBEB launched the initiative in collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)

In his welcome remarks, the Acting Executive Chairman of FCT UBEB, Dr. Alhassan Sule, described the initiative as a way of “immunizing children against corruption” and pledged to institutionalise the clubs in more FCT schools.

Sule, who noted that education is a powerful tool against corruption, expressed confidence that the clubs will inspire students to reject corrupt practices, thereby fostering a future generation of responsible leaders.

He therefore lauded the EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, for his leadership qualities and foresight in establishing the Integrity Clubs.

On his part, Olukoyede, who was represented by Director of Public Affairs at EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren,  expressed delight at the initiative.

Olukoyede explained that the Integrity Clubs would serve as platforms for enlightenment, character building, and empowerment; encouraging students to uphold values such as honesty, diligence, and courage.

He however, stressed that corruption threatens national development and must be confronted collectively.

He therefore urged all stakeholders to support the campaign against corruption and encouraged students to remain committed to the club’s principles.

To sustain the initiative, the EFCC boss pledged to provide instructional materials, guidance, and mentorship to students.
