Transportation: FCTA lifts suspension on SECDA licence

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has lifted the suspension placed on SECDA Nigeria limited from operating commercial transport services in the nation’s capital.
The FCTA, through her Transportation Secretariat, disclosed that the administration decided to lift the suspension, following the review of SECDA’s letter of unreserved apology, according to a statement signed by Assistant Director, Information Transportation secretariat,
Ifeanyi Ughamadu.
Recall that the Provisional Operator’s licenses granted to SECDA Nig Ltd to operate commercial transport services in the FCT was suspended on February 28, 2018, for alleged SECDA’s failure to obey the Transportation Secretariat’s directives on the closure of all unauthorised parks along Abuja – Keffi route.
However, the Secretary, Transportation Secretariat, Comrade Kayode Opeifa announced the lifting of the suspension at the end of the stakeholder’s meeting with various public transport providers and terminal managers, on Tuesday.
Opeifa advised the company to respect the rules and regulations guiding the operation of commercial transport services in the Territory.
He also urged them to relate peacefully with other Licensed Operators in the Territory and reiterated that the Secretariat will not fail to apply the long arm of the law on any operator that violates the rules of engagement with impunity.
Responding , the Managing Director of SECDA Nig Ltd, Mr Victor Uche Okorie appreciated the Transportation Secretariat for lifting the suspension.
He apologised for all the inconveniences their actions may have caused the Transportation Secretariat and the other licensed Operators and pledged the loyalty of his company to the FCT Administration.
