Troops Save Federal Poly Rector From Kidnappers in Zamfara

Troops of Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have saved the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda, Dr Aminu Yusuf, from kidnappers after the criminals attacked his residence in Kauran Namoda on Tuesday.

The terrorists, however, killed the Rector’s private security guard and injured another resident before attempting to abduct the Rector and his family.

A statement issued on Wednesday by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, said the troops arrived promptly and engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to flee and abandon their victims.

“The Rector and his family were rescued unharmed,” Danja said.

In another operation on the same day, an attempt by terrorists to abduct civilians in Tungan Dorawa community in Barkeji Village, was foiled by the troops.

“Despite difficult terrain that slowed initial movement, troops closed in on the fleeing suspects, engaged them, and foiled the abduction.

“Simultaneously, troops engaged another group of terrorists in the same community attempting to kidnap a prominent businessman, Alhaji Azaria.

“Prompt intervention forced the terrorists to flee and abandon their mission. Alhaji Azaria, along with 21 other civilians abducted from neighbouring houses, were rescued.

Meanwhile, troops have arrested a suspected terrorist informant, Falalu Yusuf, 45, and was handed over to relevant authorities for investigation and further necessary action.

“Operation FANSAN YAMMA commends the vigilance, courage, and professionalism of the troops, and reassures the public of its unwavering commitment to restoring peace and security in Zamfara State and the larger North West Region,” Danja added in the statement.
