Truck drivers protest killings of members in Delta

Date:

By Nosa Akenzua, Asaba

Worried by incessant death of their members through highway accidents, truck drivers at the ever busy Asaba- Onitsha expressway in the early hours of Sunday blocked the ever busy road in protest against the alleged killings of their members by over speeding vehicles.
No few than 10 members of the truck drivers association in Asaba Onitsha expressway have been allegedly killed by over speeding vehicle drivers heading towards the Eastern part of the country, especially during nightfall before the head bridge under the watchful eyes of security agents.
Sources said that many accidents have occurred between the head bridge in Asaba Onitsha expressway as most of the victims are either knocked down or allegedly crushed to death by their truck vehicles even when it is glaring that they are properly parked.
