Two Police officers killed in tragic Kaduna auto crash

Tragedy struck the Kaduna metropolis early Friday morning after two police officers were killed in a fatal road crash while performing their duties along Ali Akilu road, in the Kawo area.
It was gathered that the accident occurred around 7:00 AM at the General Hassan Katsina U-turn (commonly known as Water U-turn). Eyewitnesses reported that a vehicle, reportedly driven by a military officer, rammed directly into the stationed police officers.
The impact was severe, causing fatal injuries on the spot.
Confirming the incident, the Kaduna State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, noted that the officers were actively on legitimate duty when the crash happened.
“The accident happened at the Water U-turn along Ali Akilu Way, Kawo, when a car driven by a military person rammed into two police officers who were at their duty post,” DSP Hassan said.
DSP Hassan stated that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Rabiu, alongside the entire Command, extended deep condolences to the families of the fallen officers.
Preliminary investigations confirm the driver involved was a military personnel.
The driver sustained injuries during the crash and is currently receiving medical attention under security supervision at an undisclosed hospital in Kaduna.
The incident has sparked fresh concerns among residents and motorists over safety along the Ali Akilu Road corridor, a high-density area frequently cited for chaotic traffic. Commuters and local drivers are urging authorities to improve traffic control and safety measures to protect both road users and security personnel on duty.
The Police Command has assured the public of a thorough, transparent investigation in collaboration with sister security agencies, while calling on all motorists to observe traffic regulations strictly.
