Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has approved the implementation of 70% of the 2024 CONPCASS/CONTEDISS salary structure for staff at all state-owned tertiary institutions, effective October 2025.
This decision is part of his administration’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare and revitalizing the education sector.
This approval came after a high-level meeting between the Governor and leaders of the Joint Union of Tertiary Institutions (JUTIKS), which led to the suspension of a month-long strike initiated by the unions.
The dialogue, held at the Government House in Kaduna, was facilitated by the Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC), Kaduna State Council, led by Comrade Ayuba Suleiman.
It was attended by representatives from both academic and non-academic unions of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria; the College of Education, Gidan Waya; and the Kaduna State College of Nursing and Midwifery, which has campuses in Kaduna, Kafanchan, and Pambegua.
The unions had declared an industrial action on September 30, 2025, due to issues related to the implementation of the 2009 CONPCASS/CONTEDISS salary structure, retirement benefits, and overall staff welfare in state-owned tertiary institutions.
