The newly inaugurated taskforce on traffic control and environmental in Udu Local Government Council (LGC) Area of Delta State has embarked on traffic decongestion of some major roads to forestall traffic gridlocks in the locality.
The taskforce was at the busy Jigbala Market where most traders had been blocking the road with goods, thereby preventing free flow of traffic at the roundabout and ensured that the traders moved their goods into the market, while those by the road side while moved farther away from the road.
The popular Ubogo Market known for its heavy traffic gridlocks was not left out in the exercise as traders were warned to remove their wares from the road to create free flow of traffic.
Speaking during the decongestion exercise, the chairman of the taskforce, Honourable Duke Efegbare, said that the taskforce would not relent in its efforts in ensuring that proper environmental cleanup and free traffic flow was attained in the locality.
Also speaking, the supervisory Councillor on Environment Honourable Voke Bukata, reiterated that the area would be cleared of shanties and anything blocking the roads, adding that environmental sustainability would be maintained in the locality.
