The Plateau State Chapter of Ulama Council yesterday lamented on the incessant bomb explosions and massacre of people in country, calling on the Nigerian government to take swift action to end the five years insurgency bedeviling mostly Nigeria’s north.
The Ulama Council, which stated this in a press release, signed by the Secretary General of the council, decried in a laud voice the menace of killing innocent people and destruction of their properties.
Part of the release reads: “We observe with dismay the recent bomb blast at the terminus market in Jos and the spate of bomb blast ravaging the country in the states of Kano, Borno, Yobe and Adamawa respectively.
“It is not only condemnable but also very callous. “Islam the religion of peace totally condemns the killing of innocent souls whether that of Muslims, Christians or pagans. It says that if you take a life unjustly, it is as though you have taken the life of the nation. The perpetrators and killers have no basis in any religion. It is contrary to what the Holy Book teaches”, the statement added.
The council, however, in its sympathy, commiserated with the families of the victims of the various bombings and killings in the country, praying that the Almighty Allah restore peace and harmony in the country.
