Date:

By Lawrence Olaoye

The Presidency yesterday accused Northern Elders Forum (NEF) of deliberately spreading hate mentality among the people with a view to causing division among the citizens.

Presidency, in a statement signed by President Goodluck Jonathan’s Soecial Adviser on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, in reaction to the allegation by the NEF that the Presidency was sponsoring insurgency to decimate the north, said such was “preposterous, contrary to common sense, divisive and essentially a deliberate attempt to disseminate ‘hate mentality’ and cause mischief.”

He stated “the suggestion that the government is carrying out any scheme to annihilate any section of the country for political gain is preposterous, contrary to common sense, divisive and essentially a deliberate attempt to disseminate “hate mentality” and cause mischief.

According to him, Jonathan needed not to be given ultimatum by the NEF for him to rise up to the insecurity situation in the country insisting that as the President, with nationwide support base, he had never shirked his responsibilities to provide security for all Nigerians.
