The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Abuja branch, has elected Dr. Kasim Umar as the new chairman of the union.
In an interview with newsmen after the election, Umar said his administration would provide purposeful leadership capable of satisfying the aspirations of the union.
He also said his administration would operate based on the constitution of the union, noting that ASUU is all about fairness and justice.
His words: I know it is a big challenge but with the other colleagues and with the support from the congress and the Exco members we will do better”
He pointed out that he would take every member of the union along in the scheme of things
On his part, the outgoing chairman of the union, Dr Ben Egheoke, advised new chairman to govern, based on the principles of the union, and urged him to deem it necessary to implement the resolutions of the congress.
