The United Nations Childrens Fund (UNICEF) Latter-Day Saints Charities in collaboration with the Gombe State Government has intensify it’s commitment in launching an initiative that will addressed the menace of malnutrition among children in Gombe State.
UNICEF chief of field office Bauchi Dr. Nuzhat Rafique made this known on Monday in Gombe during a meeting with stakeholders.
She said the initiative will help in reducing the rate of malnutrition in children, adding that the menace has been a major problem where children under 5 are mostly victims.
According to her, they are tendency that all hands most be on deck to ensure that issue of malnutrition among children are eradicated.
Nuzhat while explaining further said that malnutrition can be easily eradicated when due process are followed by feeding children with nutrients.
She encouraged that the use of nutrition while feeding children is a necessity that require balance diet that will fight against malnutrition in children.
Most children fall victims of malnutrition is due to lack of adequate and proper feeding, noting that with proper feeding, malnutrition won’t have a place to live in children she added.
The meeting were said to have engaged stakeholders who drawn from Traditional institutions, Religious leaders, Civil Society Organisations and the media.
