In its human empowerment scheme under education special programme,UNICEF graduated 1,250 Technical and Vocational education beneficiaries in Hong Local Government Area (LGA) of Adamawa.

The UNICEF Education Specialist, Bauchi field office, Mrs Mairama Dikwa disclosed the development Wednesday at the graduation ceremony held in Hong, the Headquarters of Hong LGA in the state.

Represented at the occasion by Mrs Paulina Kigbu, UNICEF Senior Education Facilitator,Dikwa said that the graduation was the second in the state.

“In November last year, about 500 young adults, female headed households, and other vulnerable members of the area that were affected by the insurgency, were trained and graduated.

“Today, marks another historic moment in the graduation of the second batch of 1,250 (597 male and 663 female) beneficiaries.

“The graduands received three months training in different vocational skills that include tailoring, welding, poultry, soap and pomade making, interlocking tiles, shoes and bag making,” Dikwa said.

She said that the project was supported and funded by government and the Germans especially the German Development Bank.
