UNICEF injects $1m to curtail menace of maternal, child mortality in Gombe

The United Nations Children Education Fund (UNICEF) has injected the total sum of $1million in collaboration with China-Africa to address the menace of rate in Kwami local government area of Gombe state.
According to UNICEF, no fewer than 55,234 under five children and 13,809 pregnant women will benefit project from January to December 2020.
It said the integrated primary health care can easily be replicated in Local government areas.
There is need for the project to improve the health status of women and children through revitalization of primary health delivery system as well as health facility.
The collaboration between UNICEF and Gombe state government has trained 38 health workers from different field of work in local government areas so as to strengthen the capacity of primary health care system in local government areas.
At least 55 community health influencers and promoters (CHIPS) agents were also trained on integrated community case management (ICCMS).
According to Aminu Sale Abubakar, an assistant director of primary health care development agency said north-east has recorded a poor health indices where Gombe is located he believed that not only to end the project but the process is already yielding positive result.
According to him, the health care delivery service system will definitely rise to a better level than before.
We will have equipment,that health workers can work with, and deliver equitable care services, we may also have enough drugs in all the facilities but if workers are not skilled the services cannot rendered quality service all these can’t be achieved he explained.
