UNPFA, WHARC train 40 healthcare providers on capacity building

The Women’s Health and Action Research Centre (WHARC) in collaboration with the United Nation Population Fund (UNPFA) have organised a 3 days capacity training workshop on family planning techniques for forty health care providers in Adamawa State.
Delivering his keynote address,Executive Director of the Centre (WHARC) ,Dr.Wilson Imongan told invited participants drawn from eight local government areas worst hit by Boko Haram Insurgency in the state that the training was aimed at promoting health and social wellbeing of women and adolescents through research,advocacy,capacity building and service delivery.
Dr.Imongan explained that the objectives of the UNFPA supported family planning project and how maternal mortality rate and infant mortality rate could be reduced and living standards brought adopting family planning mechanism.
Imongan reiterated that the training aims at building capacity on family planning methods,programmatic and managerial practices and approaches to help improve quality,access and demand for effective delivery of family planning services to address the unmet need of family planning in the state particularly in hard to reach communities and insurgency affected areas.
Earlier in his remarks, Program Officer, Monitoring & Evacuation of the Centre,Brian E.Igboin stated that the participants were taken through overview of the family planning and reproductive at global and national level, family planning methods, post abortion contraception, infection prevention,counselling/ client provider interaction.
The workshop was attended by the state reproductive health coordinator, family planning coordinator and 40 participants from 8 Local Government Areas in the state including; Numan,Madagali,Michika,Lamurde,Hong,Demsa,Maiha and Toungo.
