From Osakhare Erese Asaba

The National Publicity Secretary of the Urhobo Progressive Union (UPU), Mr. Abel Oshevire has carpeted the union’s former first Deputy President-General Chief Okotie Osiobe for allegedly describing the UPU as an arm of the ruling party, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State noting that Osiobe alleged comments portended betrayal of trust.
While urging Chief Joe Omene, a former President-General of UPU kinsmen of the Urhobo Nation, Mr. Oshevire who spoke to journalists in Asaba yesterday, said that entire Urhobo nation was prepared to grant pardon to chief Omene and others, if he was prepared to humble himself and apologize to Urhobo monarchs.
He said: “as a former PG of UPU, Chief Omene deserved our respects, but he must apologize for his alleged misdeeds so that he can be reintegrated into the fold, he should play that fatherly role which is expected of him”.
He dispelled as untrue that UPU was divided as speculated in many quarters, saying that rather UPU had remained one indivisible entity led by Olorogun Moses Taiga, adding that there had been no vacuum until the present executive tenure expires.
According to the National Publicity Secretary, “the unity of the Urhobos is still intact, and we speak with one voice”
