US Faith-based Organisation laments over humanitarian situation in Nigerian

The Chairman, Religious Freedom Coalition, a faith-based in Washington DC, Williams Murray has lamented over the situation of Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs in Nigeria, averring that it is far worse than Iraq and Syria.
Murray made the lamentation yesterday during a visit to the Internally Displaced Persons camp in Abegana near Makurdi, where he donated sanitary items to women and children
He regretted that Christians in Nigeria are currently facing serious persecution just like their counterparts in the Middle East, stressing that the humanitarian situation he has seen is pitiable than what is even portrayed in the media.
While stating that the people require urgent attention, he promised to mobilise other relevant international organisations in USA and in other countries to render needed assistance to the IDPs especially in the area of health care.
The Religious Coalition chair said Nigeria Government must act fast to secure Benue communities and the innocent women and children out of the current security challenge to ensure that the people return to their various homes and go back to their farms.
“None of the IDPs want to remain in the camps and continue to depend
on other people for survival, they need their freedom and the zeal to
work for themselves to survive not depending on government”.
“Let me warn that as long as these people continue to stay in the camps, they would not be productive or offer any meaningful service to the society or to themselves”, Murray fumed.
Also,speaking an International Human Rights Lawyer, Emmanuel Ogebe, who was at the camp with the Christian Freedom Coalition boss, warned that Nigeria is playing with its food survival occasioned by the large number of people living in different displaced camps across the country.
According to him, Nigeria is playing with its food security and food survival, which potent danger for the country.
He said it is the desire of every right thinking Nigerian to press on relevant organs for those IDPs in Benue state to be rehabilitated and allowed to go back home to their farms so that they can feed the nation.
The legal practitioner who hails from Benue State but based in Washington, the United States of America, also expressed worry that a food security council was recently created by the federal government without the input of Benue people.
“If the food security of the country meant anything to the federal government, such council headquarters should have been located in Benue state”, Ogebe maintained.
He further called on communities in all parts of the country which have come under consistent threats of rampaging killer-bandits to heed the advice of General Theophilus Danjuma (rtd) by defending themselves, stressing that such defence is the position of the law of the country.
“It is no longer sustainable for us to be losing lives on such a large scale. Nigeria must transcend the atrocity and terrorism, not only Boko haram but every other entity that is killing Nigeria. What we are seeing now is equivalent of genocide,” he added.
