The United States of America President, Donald Trump will present the 2026 World Cup trophy to the winners
FIFA President Gianni Infanttino confirmed that the Trump will be allowed to make the trophy presentation to the winners on the final day of the tournament next month
The ceremony will take place on July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
In a major break from recent FIFA protocol where the FIFA president presents the trophy alone, Trump and Infantino will hand it over together to the winning captain.
Speaking on Fox & Friends, Infantino stated, “We will be together with the president enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course, together.”
While Infantino handled the honours alone at Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022, world leaders have stepped in before. For instance, Queen Elizabeth II presented the trophy to England’s Bobby Moore in 1966.
This move follows a similar setup from the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup final at the same venue, where Trump presented the trophy to Chelsea captain Reece James. During that event, Trump broke standard procedure by remaining on the podium to celebrate with the team, leading to a highly discussed viral moment.
Reports indicate FIFA will let Trump decide if he wants to stay on stage for the celebrations this time around as well.
