Use Abba Kyari to solve insecurity crises — Group urges Tinubu

Date:

By Abubakar Yunusa

A concerned group of Nigerians is urging President Bola Tinubu to deploy the embattled and suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, to address the escalating insecurity in Nigeria, particularly in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The group highlights the recent surge in attacks on passengers along the Abuja/Kaduna expressway and the Birnin Gwari expressway to Zamfara, emphasizing that these areas have fallen under the control of kidnappers, similar to Plateau, Zamfara, Borno, and other locations where the situation has become dire.

In a joint statement signed by National Coordinator Segun Rotimi, Deputy National Coordinator Musa Shehu, and National Secretary Nnamdi Sylvester, the group expresses deep concern about the alarming state of insecurity in Nigeria and emphasizes the need for President Tinubu to take swift action.

The statement underscores the gravity of the situation, warning that failure to act promptly could lead to President Tinubu’s administration being regarded as the worst in Nigeria’s history.

The group condemns the recent kidnapping and killing of three family members in Bwari Area Council, describing it as reprehensible.

It draws attention to the brazen activities of kidnappers taking place under President Tinubu’s watch, with satellite towns in the FCT becoming unsafe, prompting people to relocate to city centers due to the fear of abduction.

The group calls for a thorough investigation into the Abba Kyari case and urges the immediate release of Kyari, emphasizing his familiarity with the terrain, knowledge of the system, understanding of criminal strategies, and ability to engage communities and their leaders effectively—qualities that have previously aided in apprehending even the most dangerous kidnappers and bandits.

Highlighting Kyari’s expertise in utilizing technology and advanced technical intelligence, the statement also notes that the equipment acquired by the former IGP Solomon Arase for the Nigeria Police is not being optimally utilized.
