Uzum calls for intensified efforts at value reorientation

Director-General of the Delta State Orientation Bureau, Eugene Azuka Uzum has called on critical stakeholders to redouble the fight against degeneration in value orientation in the society.
Uzum made the called when he granted audience to the leadership of the Real Omote, a nongovernmental organisation (NGO), in his office in Asaba, the state capital.
He said that the onerous task of mindset reorientation of the general populace should be synergized with the active participation of the organised private sector, including the family set up in the society, adding that religious bodies should shift the drift from preaching prosperity to winning souls through sermons on moral and salvation.
The orientation boss thanked the state governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, for placing high premium on value reorientation of Deltans and residents in the state, adding that societal inducements and unwholesome pressures from some families have greatly eroded the African values of having a good name, rather than acquisition of inexplicable wealth, which, he decried, have resulted in wanton killings, kidnapping, dastardly robberies, drug abuse, cultism, corruption, examination malpractices, “ yahoo” orchestrated frauds and very many other social vices in the society.
