Varsities strike: FG urged to release N8bn to JAC on time

The chairman of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and Educational Institutions as well as the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) of the University of Abuja branch, Comrade Israel Orokpo, has urged the Federal Government to release the N8bn agreement to the unions on time.
Orokpo who disclosed this in a telephone interview with or reporter on Wednesday, called on the government of the day to release the N8bn before the deadline of the agreement.
He said if the N8bn is released, it is meant for the earned allowances of the staff across the Universities in the country.
He said the University of Ilorin ASUU as well as the University of Nsukkawere already assigned to share the N8bn to JAC of JAAT, NASU and SSANU if the money is released.
He therefore, advised the entire staff of the Universities to remain calm as well remain committed to their duties in their various offices.
