Goodluck vs SamboBy Tobias Lengnan Dapam

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday ruled out any possibility of the Vice President, Namadi Sambo succeeding him.

Jonathan said the next President of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) must be below 60 years of age.

It would be recalled that the same issue of succession was a thug of war between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Vice

President Atiku Abubakar.

The issue pitched the two on war path which till date is being nursed at various quotas.

Meanwhile, Jonathan chose an odious time to make the pronouncement especially; at a time when his party for the first time in the country’s history is trying to survive a challenge posed by the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).

Addressing a mammoth crowd at the Lafia Township stadium during his presidential campaign tour to Nasarawa State, President Jonathan said

his administration believes in the youth and will do everything possible to support the younger generation.

“Obasanjo was president at 70, Yar’Adua at 60 and me close to 60 so the next president must be younger than me”.

Jonathan said the PDP administration will invest in the younger generation and ensure that a space is made available for them in the future.

He explained that his administration has taken interest in educational development which is a yardstick for developing the younger generation.

The President laid emphasis on youth empowerment which he said will be cardinal principle of his government if re-elected.
