The management of Water FC have expressed gratitude to the Nigeria Football Federation Technical Department, the national body of Nigeria Football Coaches Association, (NFCA) the FCT Football Association (FCT FA) as well as sport journalists for their unrivaled support during the three-day football trial.

The Water FC Football Trial held from 12 – 14 January, 2022 at the FIFA Goal Project Package B, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

With over 5 000 players turning up to the trial, 55 have been selected for further screening as the management seeks to get the best legs from the remaining players. 

Speaking on Saturday during the concluding part of the trial, the Chief Executive Officer, CEO of Water FC, Mr Makanjuola Nureni expressed satisfaction in the ability of players he had picked and thanked stakeholders for their support.

“We have pruned the number from over 5 000 players to just 55 of them. It was not an easy job but my coaching staff and technical crew did a massive job to reach the stage we now,” he said. 

“I want to use this opportunity to thank and appreciate the Technical Department of the Nigeria Football Federation, the national body of the Nigeria Football Coaches Association – their president, Ladan Bosso, who I respect very much was around; the FCT FOOTBALL Association and most importantly, the media for their support. 

“It was a massive programme and these stakeholders made the work a lot easier,” he said.

Mr Nureni who is also the CEO of MK Sports International, said the remaining 55 players will be accommodated in a good hotel in Abuja and their basic needs provide as they continue the screening process.

“We have 55 players with us who we penciled down from the initial 5, 000 plus players during the trial. 

“No we are going to do thorough screening to get the best legs from them 

“They will be housed in a good hotel in Abuja and all their basic needs will be provided. The Screeing will continue this week and we will keep the public informed as we progress,” he concluded.

Water FC Football Trial is aimed at discovering exceptionally gifted footballers within the age of 13 and 24. The successful players will be absorbed into the Water FC Academy while others will be linked up to European clubs in France, Denmark Sweden Spain, among others. 

The retained players will play in the Nigeria Pro- division league where they will earn a monthly stipend of N150, 000 to N250, 000.
