We are changing narrative of open defecation -EHORECON boss

The Acting Registrar of the Environmental Health Officer’s Registration Council of Nigeria (EHORECON), Dr Baba Yakubu Muhammed,said Nigeria would change the narrative of open defecation through collaborating with other relevant Ministries.
Muhammed made this known to newsmen during the commemoration of 2020 World Toilet Day with the theme: “Sustainable Sanitation and Climate Change” in Abuja recently.
He said Nigeria can achieved the 2025 target of open defecation free if all hands will be on deck.
According to him, ”the honourable minister of environment Dr. Mohammad Abubakar, has provided all the necessary leadership by providing huge investment on sanitation and particularly providing toilet facilities.
“We need these especially in public places, where open defecation has become a menace”.
He emphasized that leadership of the ministry is bringing relevant ministries and other sector to key in to the vision in the fight against open defection in the country .
The EHORECON boss explained that “it is a fortunate or unfortunate issues because sanitation lies with the local government.
“We can see why the ministry of environment is providing the necessary guide and lead to fellow, so that it will activate participation of other tires of government.
