We have been abandoned by the Kebbi state government, IDPs cried out

The victims of rainstorm in Dakingari, Suru Local Government area of Kebbi State have expressed dismay over the way and manner the Kebbi State Government allegedly abandoned them without any financial support, food items and other necessary needs.
Speaking to our correspondent while visiting the affected people, one of the affected families member, Hussaini Nma lamented over the condition they are, adding that government never visited them nor give any assistance.
He explained further with dismay that some of their families are in a critical condition of health, but the government abandoned them. ‘God would intervene between us and the government’, he said.
Our correspondent can recall that last week, not less than 50 houses were destroyed by rainstorm at Dakingari, the headquarters of Suru local government area of Kebbi State.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the Executive Director of State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) , Abbas Rabiu Kamba said that the heavy rains which lasted for several hours damaged several houses in the community and rendered many of the residents homeless.
The SEMA boss said “So far we have no record of any death but over 50 houses were destroyed in the area”.
He added that officials of the agency led by its chairman, Alhaji Sani Dododo has visited the area to assess the situation and had reported back to the state government for possible assistance to the victims.
He said many of the open wells in the community have been contaminated by the flood and residents have been told to suspend using the open wells till the relevant authorities treat and cleanse them.
“The matter has been reported to the state ministry of Health for prompt action”, he said.
