The newly elected president of Nigeria Scrabble Federation, NSF, Engineer Toke Aka, has assured all lovers of the game of words that the sport see a new and improved beginning and that his second coming is to build a sport that Nigerians will be proud of.
He made this public in an interview with newsmen on Monday.
Engr. Aka explained that the new board is made up of dedicated and committed Nigerians who were carefully assembled to take the sport of Scrabble to a lofty height.
“This board, did not just appear a week or two ago, it took over a year to find the right members from all the zones”. Aka told our correspondent.
“You know Scrabble is a sport that you can find and play in any educated home and so we will reach out to every lover of the sport and we also take the game to public and private schools across the country in the days ahead”. the Scrabble President stated.
On the involvement of more women in the sport, the returnee President explained that they will focus on young girls in the School Scrabble Search and Drive. “You know older women have multi roles to carry out and that affects their participation, so we will go ahead with the younger women and school girls to get them into the game”.Aka stated.
“Each of the zones is expected to stage at least one national championships and one closed event yearly for the zone as part of a new STRATEGY to grow the game of words in Nigeria’.
‘And each representative of the zones will be acting as a president and this will add fillips to sport”. the Water Engineer stressed.
